This lunnytsia draws inspiration from ancient women’s pendants once worn across the lands of Kyivan Rus and within early Slavic tradition. Its crescent shape was one of the most recognizable feminine symbols — associated with the cyclical nature of life, womanhood, fertility, and protection.
At the center of the composition is an open crescent form adorned with rhythmic geometric ornamentation and textured metal details. In traditional adornments, motifs like these were often connected to the harmony of the world, the continuity of generations, and a woman’s inner resilience. The open shape itself symbolically reflected movement, renewal, and the natural rhythms of life.
The black velvet ribbon gives the piece a restrained contemporary presence while emphasizing the strength and graphic beauty of the metal symbol. In this adornment, an ancient form is reimagined through a modern, minimal aesthetic — timeless yet deeply rooted in heritage.
An original interpretation by Comely UA, inspired by historical forms of Ukrainian women’s jewelry.

Symbolism:
In women’s tradition, the lunnytsia was more than an ornament. It was a symbol of feminine dignity, maturity, and connection to one’s lineage. Women wore it as a sign of protection, life force, and harmony with the cycles of nature.
The crescent form symbolized:

  • feminine energy;
  • renewal and cyclical continuity;
  • the continuity of life;
  • protection of the woman and the home;
  • the bond between generations.

The silver-toned metal gives the piece depth and quiet strength, while the black velvet ribbon enhances the feeling of inner balance, grounding, and modern feminine elegance.
