The ribbon-style Gerdan “Luchka” is inspired by a 1940s pattern from Shevchenkove village in the Polissia region of Kyiv oblast. The original diamond geometry has been faithfully preserved, maintaining the historical structure of the traditional design.

However, this piece is not an exact museum replica. The color palette has been reinterpreted, fringe was added to create movement, and a small angel pendant introduces a contemporary layer of personal symbolism.

This is a dialogue between heritage and the present. An original interpretation by Comely UA based on a 1940s Polissian pattern.

Dimensions: Materials:
• Velvet ties for adjustable fit
• Beaded part: 30 cm (11.8 in)
• Width: 3.5 cm (1.4 in)
• Czech seed beads
• Durable nylon thread
• Velvet ties

Symbolism:
The central diamond with a dot represents a sown field in Ukrainian tradition — a symbol of fertility, continuity, and the strength of lineage. The repetitive rhythm of geometry reflects balance and order. The added fringe enhances movement and subtly echoes the traditional protective function of beaded collars. The angel pendant is a contemporary author’s addition — a personal sign of light and protection.

Colors carry meaning:
Blue — sky, clarity, spiritual calm.
Black — protection and grounding.
Red — life force and bloodline strength.
Green — earth and renewal.
