This double-layer sylianka is recreated from a 1940s beaded necklace from the village of Keretsky in the Svaliava district of Transcarpathia, western Ukraine. The replica was carefully reconstructed using a pattern chart by Liliia Kvitka, based on a traditional regional beadwork design once worn as part of women’s festive attire in mid-20th-century Zakarpattia.
Jewelry like this was more than decoration — it reflected local identity, craftsmanship, and the visual rhythm of Ukrainian tradition carried through generations of women. Replica by Comely UA, recreated from a historical source.

Symbolism:
Diamond-shaped motifs are among the oldest geometric symbols in Ukrainian ornamental tradition. They were historically associated with fertility, continuity of life, harmony, and the connection between generations. In women’s adornments, these patterns often expressed a deep bond with family roots, the land, and inner resilience.
Red — vitality, strength, dignity.
Yellow — warmth, sunlight, life energy.
Green — growth, nature, renewal.
White — clarity, purity, openness.
Black — grounding, structure, continuity between generations.
Light blue — air, softness, inner balance.
“Keretsky” is more than a recreation of a historical necklace. It is a living continuation of Ukrainian women’s heritage — carried into the present through handwork, memory, and respect for the cultural legacy of Transcarpathia.
Each Comely UA piece is handcrafted. Subtle variations in color or bead alignment are marks of authenticity — traces of time, touch, and soul.
Comely UA — jewelry that remembers the power of women’s hands.
